We all dream of finding that special someone with whom we can talk about our passions, hopes and dreams, or at least I do. It wasn’t long before News 4 San Antonio’s chief weatherman, Chris Suchan, met his match, Amber, and quickly put a ring on her.

The couple celebrated their love in front of friends, family and co-workers on October 15 by getting married in a chic Texas wedding in the Hill Country.

Longing for a “true Texas vibe”, the couple decided that the Sisterdale Dancehall and Boerne Opera House provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding.

“I was dizzy. I had a little case of butterflies,” Suchan says of the wedding day. “I walked around the room and got goosebumps. I was like, ‘Wow, this is happening.'”

Amber says she was very excited to “finally seal the deal.”

The rustic Texas feel with a touch of elegance wasn’t the only thing that complemented Lone Star’s nuptials. The newlyweds were also treated to a barbecue buffet for the intimate ceremony of just over 100 people.

Among the guests were colleagues from the TV network, including former News 4 presenter Randy Beamer, who had the honor of officiating the couple’s ceremony.

“Before he retired, we were talking earlier at the news desk,” Suchan says. “Randy had made a comment that he was allowed to be ordained for weddings. I love Randy like a brother and Amber too, so we just jumped in.”

Suchan went on to say that “in Beamer’s way, he was a beautiful mix of comedy and tears as he shared the story of our marriage.”

As husband and wife, the couple shared their first dance together to Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You” with the Paul Nathaniel Band.

“I actually chose it,” Amber says of the song. “We never really had a song when we were together. I thought it was pretty much perfect about how we met. The work it took to get to the love we have .”

“The lyrics to this song really sum up our paths in life,” Suchan echoed. “It’s not our first rodeo. The song kind of compliments the love we have for each other.”

The meteorologist says he knew right away he wanted to spend eternity with Amber.

“We had great conversations, talking about science, talking about life,” he told MySA. “And she had these two beautiful boys, I was like, ‘Well son of gon, maybe it’s my destiny to help raise these boys.'”

“It took me a bit of time. I had three jobs at the time and was taking care of two boys on my own,” Amber explains. “After a while we finally found where we could spend more time together. He’s just an amazing person. He’s a love to me and the boys.”

The couple was due to get married in 2020 but decided to push it back to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They wanted to make sure their friends and family could attend their special day.

As for the honeymoon, they said they did a pre-honeymoon in the summer in St. Thomas. They hope to plan something more official in the future.
