Digital platform skills and live reporting experience from the field are a must. This position REQUIRES working weekends.

The Weekend News Presenter/Reporter serves as the primary presenter of news and other content for all platforms in a way that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers.

  • Features news and other content for all platforms
  • Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
  • Write and deliver reports in a clear and concise manner
  • Produces newsletters and communicates clear direction to team members
  • Assist with writing, editing, researching and coordinating news programming, phone calls, editing and other content production tasks
  • Acts as a field reporter as assigned
  • Conduct live and recorded interviews
  • Responds to breaking news and other urgent situations in the newsroom as needed
  • Makes monthly public appearances on behalf of the station
  • Writes content for the website and other social platforms
  • Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites
  • Performs other assigned duties

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in news reporting or anchoring
  • Excellent judgment on current affairs with in-depth knowledge of local and national current affairs, history, news and issues
  • Experience filming, writing and editing their own content
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to listen effectively to fully understand issues and communicate with a team to shape a solution
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to meet a deadline on a daily basis and in long-term planning

WJMN Local 3 in Marquette, Michigan is seeking a Weekend Meteorologist/MMJ.

We are looking for someone who can provide knowledgeable/easy to understand weather forecasts in one of the snowiest locations in the United States.

Although we face extreme weather conditions in the summer, this television market sees its greatest weather impacts during the fall and winter months.

This position REQUIRES working weekends.

This will be very heavy MMJ work, with meteorological/scientific reporting at the forefront.

Weather is a topic with many of our viewers in Upper Michigan, we are looking for someone to explain why or what is behind the weather forecast, or how weather/climate affects our weather in Upper Michigan and the Great Lakes.

This candidate will also replace the Chief Meteorologist when he leaves and must be flexible for working holidays and extreme weather conditions.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Gather videos and information for news stories.
  • Produce and report weather and/or news reports on all media platforms.
  • Present live weather and news reports from the station as well as from the field.
  • Write weather stories and update forecast information on the station’s website.
  • Develop innovative and creative ways to present the daily weather story.
  • Create maps and graphs to illustrate weather conditions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in meteorology and broadcast journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Specialized knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • Solid vocal delivery, camera presence and clear enunciation.
  • Strong reporting skills.
  • Understand the importance of social media.
  • Proficiency Weather Company (WSI) weather systems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

The successful candidate must be ready to play an active role in daily news gathering across all screens and platforms.

This multimedia journalist must maintain a friendly and authoritative on-air personality, demonstrate urgency on a daily basis, especially during breaking news, and have a high level of engagement on all social media platforms.

We are looking for someone who can film, write, edit and present stories in an impactful way.

You will be responsible for the appearance of your stories, including identifying opportunities to develop them in an impactful way.

You must be prepared to get involved with the amazing communities of the Upper Peninsula.
