TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) is warning people of the potential for heavy rain, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, in a number of Indonesian provinces on Friday, May 6.
The agency forecast medium to heavy rains, with lightning and strong winds, over Bali, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Bengkulu and Jakarta.
He will also perform in Gorontalo, Jambi, West Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, Maluku and North Maluku. And then to West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, South Sumatra and North Sumatra.
Previously, the BMKG had identified an increase in precipitation during the return flow of Eid 2022, based on the latest atmospheric dynamics analysis results on Thursday.
Deputy Meteorology Department Guswanto said in the press release received in Jakarta that the increase in rainfall is expected to occur between May 5 and May 9.
“The condition was triggered by multiple cyclonic patterns around the Indian Ocean northwest of Aceh, Maluku waters and north of North Kalimantan,” Guswanto said.
He added that Rossby Waves activities around North Sumatra also support the potential for increased rainfall.
