news, latest news,

A severe weather warning has been issued for the area just days after high winds and hail wreaked havoc in Belconnen. Around 2,000 households remain without power and some have been told by energy supplier EvoEnergy that this will be the case until Sunday. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heavy rain warning for the Mid-Western Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. Canberra is expected to receive up to 25 millimeters of rain on Thursday. More thunderstorms are forecast for Friday and rainfall of between 25 and 35 millimeters is expected. The weather warning comes after the severe storm damaged power lines and infrastructure as hail and high winds knocked down trees in the area. More soon.
