AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Standard summer heat, humidity and afternoon and evening thunderstorms can be expected through Friday.

Cloud cover today kept most locations below 90 this afternoon. Showers and random thunderstorms will remain possible until around midnight. Rain will taper off after midnight and skies will be mostly cloudy before Thursday morning. Thursday morning lows will be near 70.

A cold front will approach the region on Thursday and push south of the region by Friday evening. Cloudy skies are expected for the first part of Thursday with a few sunny spells in the afternoon. Scattered storms are expected Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening with highs near 90. Winds will be westerly between 5 and 10 mph.

Morning lows will again be near 70 early Friday with cloudy skies. Risks of storm will be possible in front of the front on Friday. Right now, it looks like the chance of rain will be highest on Friday afternoon and evening. Friday’s highs will be in the upper 80s. Winds will be from the west-northwest between 5 and 10 mph. The cold front is expected to drop south of the CSRA from Friday evening to Saturday morning, which means we will see lower humidity and cooler mornings from Saturday into early next week!

The weekend will be fantastic. Morning lows on Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid to high 60s. Afternoon highs this weekend will be in the upper 80s. Most of the CSRA is expected to remain dry this weekend with the front locked south of us. Winds will be from the north-northeast between 5 and 10 mph.
