AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Temperatures this morning bottomed in the upper 50s and low/mid 60s across the region with partly cloudy conditions. High temperatures this afternoon are expected to be warm again in the mid to high 70s. There will also be a northwesterly wind between 8 and 12 mph which could help warm us up a few degrees additional. A few scattered showers are expected later in the day, so pack a rain jacket if you’re heading out to celebrate the New Year. No severe storms are expected today, which is great news! The lows tonight will be in the 60s and the highs for your new year will be well above average once again in the upper 70s/80s. Winds will blow between 10 and 15 mph tomorrow with gusts near 25 mph. It will be even windier on Sunday with winds between 15 and 20 mph and gusts to nearly 30 mph. A lake wind advisory may be issued.

Another cold front appears to be moving through the area on Sunday/Sunday evening bringing us thunderstorms and possibly even severe to severe storms. We have also issued an early warning for the entire CSRA for Sunday, due to the forecasted intensity of this front and the potential for severe weather again.

It’s still too far to go into specifics as the schedule and terms and conditions are likely to change, but it’s something worth watching ahead of this weekend. A large cooling is also expected behind this cold front with Monday morning lows in the 30s and afternoon highs in the 50s. forecasts will be refined.
