Washington, DC Fox station WTTG promoted Michael Thomas to the evening weather forecaster and added Claire Anderson to replace it in the morning.
Thomas goes from the morning to the television news at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Anderson will join the station on April 18 to work weekday newscasts from 4 to 6 a.m. She will also report on various topics for Fox 5 Morning and Good Day DC.
“Mike lives and breathes the weather. Our viewers know that if there’s a storm coming, they can trust its forecast any time of the day, whether it’s on TV, streaming live on digital or on social media,” said the vice president and chief information officer. Paul McGonagle “Claire has a dynamite personality. Its weather forecast is clear and easy to understand, making it a great addition to “Fox5 Morning” and “Good Day DC.”
Prior to joining WTTG in 2014, Thomas worked for the Commodity Weather Group in Bethesda, Maryland, where he focused on learning forecasting techniques, weather pattern analysis, and seasonal and long-range forecasting.
Anderson recently worked as a meteorologist for KIRO in Seattle. Prior to that, she was a weatherman for KOIN in Portland, Oregon, weathercaster and reporter for KCOY-KKFX in Santa Barbara, CA, and weekend weathercaster and MMJ for KRTV-KXLH in Helena, Mont.
“I look forward to forecasting the weather for our nation’s capital and having the opportunity to explain the ‘why’ behind each forecast, so that we can make the weather accessible and exciting for our viewers,” said Anderson.
