Mangaluru/Udupi: Few showers in parts of twin districts, Sullia records heaviest rainfall

Mangaluru/Udupi, June 19: Many parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are still waiting for the monsoon to start. However, Sullia and Subramanya received heavy rain on Saturday.

Most parts of the twin districts had alternating sunny and cloudy weather. According to the meteorology department, the two districts are expected to receive heavy rains over the next three days. The yellow alert is declared from June 19 to 22.

Sullia and Subramanya received heavy rain for three hours on Saturday evening. Commuters struggled as most sewers were overflowing. The water has gushed into the farmlands and farms that are next to the drains.

National roads between Sullia-Bellare, Bellare-Ninthikallu, Panja-Kadaba were flooded. Sullia, Jalsoor, Kanakamajalu, Aranthodu, Kallugundi, Sampaje, Bellare, Ninthikallu, Ivarnadu, Kalmadka, Panja, Subramanya, Harihara, Pallathadka, Kollamogru, Balpa, Guthigaru, Bilinele, Kallagudde, Noojibaltila, Renjiladi, Ichlampadi and Konaje received heavy showers .

In Udupi, Saturday was a mix of sunshine and light rain. Udupi, Kundapur, Karkala, Hebri, Brahmvar and Byndoor received good rains in the evening. Parkala, Manipal and Malpe experienced light drizzle.
