Meteorological department warns of stormy rain and strong wind

Doha: The weather on the coast this evening until 6 a.m. Sunday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with the chance of scattered rain which can be stormy at times, the Qatar Meteorological Department (QMD) said in its daily weather report, warning stormy rain and strong wind in places.
Offshore, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of scattered rain which can be thundery at times, the report added, warning of strong winds and high seas, with thunderstorm rain in places.
The coastal wind will be from the northeast to the southeast at a speed of 07 to 17 knots reaching 27 knots with thunderstorm rain.
Offshore it will be southeast to east at a speed of 11 to 21, reaching 26 knots with thunderstorm rain.
Visibility will be 05-10 kilometers or 03 kilometers or less with thunderstorm rain.
The sea condition near the coast will be 1 to 3 feet, sometimes increasing to 4 feet. Offshore it will be 3 to 6 feet and rise to 8 feet with stormy rains.
In the morning, many parts of the country saw a strong wind.
“There is a strong south-easterly wind in some areas, especially in the center and west of the country, with gusts sometimes exceeding 25 KT,” QMD said.
The hottest temperature recorded today is 41 degrees Celsius and the lowest is 33 degrees Celsius. Sunday will also see a similar temperature with the low dipping further to around 30 degrees Celsius in some places.
