Storm Team 8 Becomes West Michigan’s Largest Weather Team

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — WOOD TV8’s team of weather forecasters is growing to be the largest in western Michigan. The station is delighted to announce the hiring of meteorologist Blake Harms.

Harms is the morning weather forecaster at the Nexstar WLNS station in Lansing and is originally from western Michigan.

“As someone who was first inspired to become a meteorologist through WOOD, this is an incredibly exciting and humbling opportunity to join the team. West Michigan is my home, it’s where I always dreamed of being and coming back is something I’m grateful for,” Harms said.

Harms graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in meteorology. He did internships at both WLNS and WOOD TV8, after which he was hired as a weather producer at WOOD. Harms is a familiar face to viewers in West Michigan and is known for his in-depth school closure predictions and forecasts. While at WLNS, he expanded his school closure predictions to include Mid-Michigan and West Michigan.

Harms joins Storm Team 8 alongside Chief Meteorologist Ellen Bacca, Chief Meteorologist Emeritus Bill Steffen, and Meteorologists Terri DeBoer, Matt Kirkwood and Sara Flynn.
