NBC 5 Dallas at NBCUniversal, LLC

NBC Universal-owned television station in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, KXAS TV, is seeking a weather forecaster.
  • Tell market weather stories in a way that connects and captivates viewers across all NBC 5 platforms.
  • Produce content for multiple platforms.
  • Develop innovative and creative ways to present weather stories, with an emphasis on data accuracy and integrity.
  • Produce weather graphics, including augmented reality, and analyze data from the National Weather Service and other weather sources.
  • Work with the weather team and producers to create comprehensive coverage of weather stories. Also prepare and publish forecasts for multiple platforms.

Some live reporting and attendance at community and weather events will be required.

• Minimum of three years of experience as a television meteorologist.
• Severe weather coverage experience.
• Diploma in meteorology. Certificates, seals and correspondence courses are not acceptable substitutes for more formal training.
• Special attention for those who master Photoshop and other 3D software.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (read, written and spoken)

• Must be willing to work in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX just south of DFW airport

• Compelling on-air presence – crisp, clear and confident delivery.
• Should thrive working under the intense pressure of TV weather deadlines.
• Technologically fluent with strong computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
• Strong leadership qualities and personal motivation.
• Understanding of the requirements of an on-air HD environment.
