PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – Aug 20, 2022): The provincial capital Peshawar received light rain which made the weather more pleasant with more rain expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next two days, the Met official said Office here on Saturday.
With more rain forecast in other parts of the province, the PDMA also sent a letter to the district administration to avoid any untoward incident besides issuing a warning to locals and tourists such as fear of flooding, landslides in the northern and hilly regions of the Province.
However, the Department of Meteorology forecast rain for most parts of the province on August 21 and 22 with the risk of flooding in rivers and streams. PDMA has also issued an urban flood warning in plains cities and instructions in this regard have been issued to the district administration and other relevant institutions to take preventive measures.
Flood and landslide fears in northern and hilly areas of the province, a PDMA press release said. Tourists have also been advised to be aware of weather conditions and take precautionary measures after more rain forecasts for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were released.
The Met Office official said: “There is a possibility of rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda with strong winds and thunder at parts of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank.” The official also predicted heavy rains in parts of Malakand and Hazara and due to heavy rains there was a risk of flooding in local rivers and landslides in mountainous areas. He revealed that 5mm of rain was recorded in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday.
