Scattered rain in central parts; Qatar Meteorology issues maritime warning


Doha: The Department of Meteorology said in its weather report that cloudy weather will continue with a chance of scattered rain, thunder warnings as well as strong downslope wind, hail and high waves offshore.

He further recalled the need to avoid all maritime activities due to unstable weather conditions, adding that “the latest radar images indicate that scattered rains continue to be observed offshore, which may be stormy in some areas”.

He added that free swimming, boat trips, scuba diving and snorkeling, windsurfing and fishing trips should be avoided.

Meanwhile, in its weather report, it added that the open sea will be cloudy with a chance of scattered rain, sometimes stormy in places, the report added, warning of stormy rain associated with strong winds and high seas.

The coastal wind will be mainly northeast to east at 05 to 15 knots, gusting to 30 knots with thundery rain.

Offshore, it will be northeast to southeast at 12 to 22 knots, gusting to 35 knots with thundery rain.

Visibility will be 4-8/2 kilometers or less during stormy rain.

The sea state ashore will be 2 to 4 feet and sometimes rise to 5 feet. Offshore it will be 3 to 7 feet rises to 12 feet with thundery showers.
