“Today people understand better what this means and what the consequences are.”

“There’s an imbalance there and you basically want to find someone who’s not in tune with who you are, who just treats you like a normal person, so you’re on a level playing field.”

Ulrika also admitted that she’s a big fan of dating apps, but she’s still learning to “sort the wheat from the chaff”.

“I don’t date, so unless you’re showing off, it’s hard to meet people.

“You meet people when you go to work or whatever, I don’t go to an office five days a week. I don’t come into contact with different people. So it really is a numbers game. I think you have to learn to sort the wheat from the chaff.

The “Celebs Go Dating” series airs Monday through Thursday on E4.

Ulrika’s Lost Loves: Through the Ages

1990 – John Turnbull

Ulrika’s first marriage was to cameraman John, but things ended in tears after five years when she cheated on him. She blamed her actions on her age, as she previously said, “I was so young. I didn’t know myself. I did some not very nice things. I was unfaithful, which is more than not pleasant”.

Shortly after her divorce, Ulrika sought solace in the arms of Gladiator star James Crossley after meeting while she was hosting the show. After their romance, she said: ‘Well, I guess I was in love with James. It was a physical thing. And what a nice man he turned out to be’ – as she referred to selling stories about their romance to newspapers.

Ulrika dated former footballer Stan for a year, but their relationship was marred by controversy when she suffered domestic abuse.

2000 – Markus Campine

German hotel boss Markus Kempen was her next love and the father of her now 18-year-old daughter Bo. Just days after Bo was born in November 2000, the businessman told his girlfriend he was leaving the UK to find work overseas – Ulrika hadn’t even brought their child home from the hospital at that time.

Ulrika and the football manager stunned the sports and showbiz world when she confirmed widely publicized reports of an affair between the duo while dating Nancy Dell’Olio. Following the affair, she received a column in The News Of The World in 2003 where she frequently commented on her private life. She was dropped in 2007 after leaving as England manager.
