The meteorological agency forecast the maximum temperature in Delhi to stand at 42 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, two degrees above the 40.6 degrees Celsius recorded the previous day.
According to Indian Meteorological Department forecasts, heat waves are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh from April 28 to 30, with the maximum temperature reaching 43 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
However, the temperature could drop if the western disturbance progresses towards the nation’s capital, causing cloudy conditions in Delhi.
Additionally, similar heatwave conditions are likely over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh from April 27-30, IMD said.
