WIVB-TV (Channel 4) meteorologist Andrew Baglini will be leaving the station next week after seven years.

Baglini announced his departure today on Twitter: “I don’t know what the next step is for me, but I can’t wait to find out, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I do!

Baglini, who is married to WIVB weekend reporter Erica Brecher and often tweets photos of their son Matthew, reportedly received an offer of a contract to stay at the station about a year ago, but the declined because he wanted to work hours that would have allowed their families to better reconcile professional and private life.

The couple met at State College, Pennsylvania, when Brecher was a student at Penn State, and Baglini worked at AccuWeather after graduating from Penn State.

Baglini worked an unstable schedule. Its regular hours are weekend mornings and the 4 p.m. news on WIVB and the 6:30 p.m. news on sister station WNLO-TV for three weekdays. However, he also had to replace other shifts when needed, especially this summer when chief meteorologist Todd Santos was on paternity leave.

According to a source, he has been working without a contract for several months and continues to work inside and outside the audiovisual sector.
